Introduction
Gavel Auctioneers (Pty) Ltd (The Company) was primarily floated with the aim to get involved in the auctioneering of fixed property due to Court orders that derives from sequestrations and liquidations. Secondary, we are also planning to auction private property from an estate agent’s point of view.
Our own market research has shown us that better prices can be obtained by selling fixed property at a privately organized auction than selling it at an auction normally done by a Sheriff of the Court. Banks as well as their clients are losing large amounts of money due to the fact that judicial auctions are not properly organized.
The present economy contributes to the increase in the auctioneering of fixed property and the need for more auctioneers. According to a local newspaper, one auctioneer in Pretoria had 70 auctions of fixed properties during June 2010.
It is a known fact that world-wide, but especially Australia, fixed property is sold by means of auctions. We are of the opinion that this will soon be the tendency in South-Africa as well.
